How to Get Rid of Garbage Disposal Sewer Smells and Odors

  1. Try cleaning the undeside of the rubber gasket at the entrance of the garbage disposal with bleach or vinegar and water.

  3. Try filling up the sink with hot water, vinegar and dish washing soap. Once it is full, then pull the stopper and turn on the disposal. Leave the hot water running for a couple of minutes.

  5. Try tossing in an orange or lemon peel and ground it up using the disposal

  6. You can go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy the garbage disposal cleaner packets. I have found that these do not work very well. I tried two packets and the smell still lingers.

  7. If you these tips and the smell still persists you are going to need to remove the trap and drain pipe from under the sink and clean them out with soap, water and bleach.
